Your Thoughts are Not Facts

Your Thoughts are Not Facts

April 03, 20232 min read

Every single one of us experienced the inner critic.

That inner voice that keeps the focus only on the negative side of things.

We can rationalize that voice all we want, but it won't add more positivity in our lives.

What adds positivity are good, happy and uplifting thoughts and feelings.

Those two always go together, because you can't have bad thoughts and feel good at the same time.

Whether your thoughts and feelings are good or bad is always up to you.

You are in charge of your mind and your inner critic.

You are in charge of seeing opportunities and adventures or obstacles and challenges.

You are in charge of your thoughts and feelings.

Every day many of us choose to magnify or minimize, over personalize things, lose perspective, overreact, devalue the compliments and the list goes on…

(insert negative feelings you fall back on here).

But we forget that your thoughts are not facts, they are changeable.

Your attitude is everything and our eyes find what our mind is searching for.

So the trick here is to focus on the good, positive and exciting - whatever that means to you.

Life happens For us and not To us, and we are in control of the way we think and feel every single day.

What are your most commonly used habits of mind?

Do you focus on opportunities or obstacles?

Do you see light in every situation or a problem in every circumstance?

Do you criticize and judge more than you praise and admire?

Audit your thoughts, catch yourself and change them if needed.

We maybe selectively attending to only good or bad things in order to shield ourselves.

What are you shielding yourself from?

We take all kind of shortcuts on how we think and how we process events and circumstances.

What shortcuts are you taking?

The key is to be aware of your habits of mind, and "audit" your feelings regularly until your habits become positive at least 51% of the time.
